A clear face is probably the dream of every person out there, or, at least, of most people. But, unfortunately, not very many of us are blessed with a face that requires minimum maintenance.
Most of us have to deal with a wide range of imperfections, starting with dilated pores to a dull-looking skin, zits, pimples, acne, blackheads, dark circles under the eyes, and so on. So, does this mean that we are doomed to live with a face that has so many unaesthetic problems? No, it means that we need to pay a bit more attention to our skin and follow a correct skin care routine on a daily basis.
If you already tried various skin care routine or products, but without any success, maybe you just haven’t found the right ones for your skin. It is very important to use products that are adequate for your skin type and respect some basic rules when it comes to skin care.
A face with imperfections also means issues on the inside
Did you know that skin imperfections can also be triggered by toxins that accumulated in your organism? Sweat, for instance, is one way for toxins to leave your body, so your skin can easily be exposed to a wide range of toxins you may have introduced into your organism. Some of us, less fortunate, will have this aspect quite visible, as toxic accumulations in the body can translate into pimples and acne issues, on the face.
What can you do in this case? Well, it is worth trying out a detoxing routine and avoiding all the foods and beverages that can bring you in the same spot again. This means avoiding fried foods, sodas, junk foods, and sweet foods. Yes, too much sugar can also end up being toxic for your body, so it is best to cut down the doses. If you like chocolate, try switching to dark chocolate, with a higher quantity of cocoa instead, and see how that works.
Clean your face, but don’t overdo it
In order to have a clear face, it is very important to wash your face, especially before going to bed. Makeup and the dust, plus other particles, we collect throughout the day can definitely affect the health and aspect of our face.
Not to mention that because our skin constantly produces sebum as a way to protect the skin from external factors, a process that is exacerbated in the case of people with oily skin, is also bad to be left on the surface of the skin. In many cases, sebum is the one that clogs the pores, leading to the apparition of zits and blackheads. Besides cleaning and washing your face in the evening, you should do it in the morning as well, in spite of the fact that it may look clean.
There are quite sufficient particles on the surface of our pillow to cause us some trouble. So, before applying a toner and moisturizer, wash your face. Still, don’t exaggerate when it comes to washing your face more than it is necessary, as washing it too often or scrubbing too hard will actually end up damaging your skin or drying it up, instead of making it squeaky clean.
Exfoliate periodically
Exfoliation is a process that helps the skin by removing the layer of dead skin cells that forms at the surface. This is one of the reasons your skin may look dull instead of having a healthy color and glow. So, exfoliate periodically, allowing the healthy, new skin cells from underneath to reach the surface. Thus, the appearance of the skin will be significantly improved.
At the same time, you make sure that those skin cells won’t end up inside some enlarged pore, causing some inflammation. Before you exfoliate, prepare your skin by washing it with a mild product. This way, you remove dust and debris from the surface of the skin, so that the exfoliator will actually remove dead skin cells, instead of scrapping the layer of dust and makeup that may be at the surface. If you don’t wash your skin prior to using an exfoliation product, then this process will not have the desired effect on your skin.
Don’t pop your zits or extract blackheads manually
Although it is very tempting to deal with a zit, pimple, or blackhead right there and on the spot, don’t do it. First of all, your face is not clean and prepared for an extraction, so you can really end up harming your skin.
Secondly, you may have germs and bacteria on your hands, by touching all sorts of items and surfaces in your proximity, so you can actually aggravate the situation by trying to solve things with your own hands. No matter how bothering a pimple or zit can be, the best way to manage the problem is to apply a product that will dry them out. There are quite a few products you can try, the most effective of them contain salicylic acid, which will protect the integrity of your skin. When it comes to dealing with blackheads, things are a bit more complicated.
Trying to extract blackheads with your fingernails can cause severe injuries to your skin, so you may end up with a blackhead and a sore or scab at the same time. So, stay put and use these face masks for blackheads instead. Just do remember that you will need to prepare your skin first. You will need to remove any trace of makeup and wash your skin so that the masks will be able to target your blackheads alone, and not the impurities that may be on the surface of your skin.
Finally, do your best to keep your hands away from your face. During the day, our hands come in contact with very many surfaces filled with germs, so the last thing you want to do is put them on your face. Your personal mobile phone is included on this list as well, so make sure to disinfect it periodically, keeping it germ-free, as you do bring it rather close to your face’s surface.
